Statement of Beliefs

What We Believe

Our supreme allegiance is to the Lord Jesus Christ and to the truth as revealed in God's written Word, the Bible. This is an evangelical church holding to the fundamental historic tenets of the Christian faith. We are committed to the following statement of beliefs which expresses our faith and serves as the basis for the fellowship among the members of this church.

A. We believe the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired Word of God, without error in the original writings, the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of man and the divine and final authority for all Christian faith, life and conduct. (2 Timothy 3:16-17: 2 Peter 1:21)

B. We believe in one God, creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Hebrews 1:8; Acts 5:3-4)

C. We believe in the full deity of Jesus Christ; that He was born of a virgin, (was) conceived by the Holy Spirit, and, as such, is God perfectly manifested in the flesh; that He died on the cross a perfect and complete sacrifice, in our stead and for our sins, according to the Scriptures. He arose bodiiy from the dead and ascended into heaven where at the right hand of the Majesty on high, He is now our High Priest and Advocate. (Matthew 1:18-25; 1 Cor 15:3-4; Hebrews 8:1-12. 9:24-28)

D. We believe in the personality and deity of the Holy Spirit whose primary purpose is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ and make Him known. During this age the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to convict of sin and regenerate the sinner upon believing in Christ and with that, baptize the believer into the body of which Christ is the Head. The Holy Spirit continues to indwell, guide, instruct, fill and empower the believer for godly living and service. (Titus 3:5; 1 Corinthians 6:19; Ephesians 4:30; John 14:26; Romans 8:1,4,26; 2 Thessalonians 2:13; 1 Corinthians 12:13; Ephesians 5:18)

E. We believe that God created man in His own image, but that the entire human race is sinful by nature and by choice. Thus all are guilty before God, spiritually dead or alienated from Him. All stand in need of redemption though Christ and regeneration by the Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1.27,3:6; Ephesians 2:1-3,4:18; John 3:18,36)

F. We believe that the atoning death of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only ground for right standing before God. This salvation is received by God's grace, only through personal faith in Christ. (Eph 2:8-9; Romans 4:5, 5:1, 10:9-10; Titus 3:5)

G. We believe in the personal, visible, bodily return of our Lord Jesus Christ to complete His saving purpose and to set up His kingdom, and that this blessed hope has a vital bearing on the personal life and service of the believer. (Matthew 16:27; John 1,4:3; Acts 1:11; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-5:11)

H. We believe in the bodily resurrection of all the dead. Believers, having been justified, will rise to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord. The impenitent will be raised to the justice of God's judgment and will bear the guilt and just penalty of their own sin. (Luke 16:19-31; John 5:28-29; Acts 24:15; Romans 2:1-8; l Corinthians 1:5; Revelation 20:4-15)

l. We believe in ihe universal church composed of all God's people, spread throughout the ages and in every place. We believe that this invisible church has its visible and present manifestation in local congregations of believers who corporately worship God by owning Christ as their Head, by fellowshipping together in His name and by serving Him, fellow believers and the world in which they live. (Matthew 16:18; Ephesians 1:22, 5:25-27; Col 1:18; Acts 8:1, 11:22, 13:1, 20:17; Gal 1:2; 1 Thessalonians 2:14)

J. We believe that believer's baptism and Holy Communion are the ordinances to be observed in the church during this present age in obedience to our Lord. These are not to be regarded as means of salvation. (Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 2:38, 8:12,13,36,38 ,10:47-48, 22:16; Romans 6:3-4; Galatians 3:27; Colossians 2:12; Luke22:17-20; 1 Corinthians 1:23-27)

K. We believe that all Christians should live in such a manner as will honor and glorify our Lord and Savior and not bring reproach to His name. We believe that the process of sanctification continues to make believers more and more like Christ and will be completed only at the return of Christ. (Romans 12 & 13; Colossians 3:1-17; 1 Peter 2:11-12; 1 John 2:15-17)

L. We believe in the existence of angels who worship God and minister to believers. We also believe in the existence of Satan, the devil, a fallen angelic being who, with his demons, opposes God, His people and His work. We believe that Christians today can have victory over Satan and his evil schemes through their identification with Christ who defeated him powerfully and conclusively at the cross. (Matthew 1:20; Luke 1:26; John 2:12, Hebrews 12:22,13:2; Acts 27:23-24; Mark 5:1-11; Ephesians 6:11-12; 1 Peter 5:8-9)

M. We believe that complete deliverance from human frailty awaits the glorious return of Christ. All personal claims in this age to a full freedom from mankind's struggle with sickness or disease or poverty or human error in judgment, have no sound Biblical basis. We can expect a gracious foretaste of Divine intervention in answer to believing prayer but our full inheritance will come only when we see Christ. (Romans 8:18-23; 1 John 3:2)
